Halloween Table: Treats for adults
There are unbelievably orange color displays in town maybe in all over the world. In recent years Halloween is getting
popular in Japan as well. Halloween is a cute annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes
activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns for candles and bonfires.
Trick-or-treating is a customary celebration for children on Halloween in the United States and Canada. Children go in
costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy, and after that, children often hold Halloween parties.
The origin of Halloween dates back to the ancient Irish Celts in Europe, who celebrated New Year's Eve on this day,
October 31. It was believed that ancients’ spirits and witches visit the houses on that day. In order to protect
themselves, they did bonfires to ward off evil spirits or wear masks. I thought the party for Halloween is not only for
children but also adults. We should enjoy the ‘Treats’ as well as do some charms against evil. My neighbor, a good
friend of mines, and I decided to enjoy ‘digestif’ after each dinner. She brought her homemade pumpkin bread pudding
for just two of us.
On the Table Today, enjoy ‘digestif’ as ‘Treats’ for adults.
